How much luggage is too much luggage?

What we're trying to avoid

As we’re only 1 week away from Spring 2012 students boarding London-bound flights, it’s time to talk luggage.

It’s understandable that the last thing you want to think about right now is your departure from London in May, but it’s worth noting that you will most likely leave London with more stuff than you originally brought. Keep that in mind as you pack over the next few days. Do you really need that fourth pair of shoes? That third jacket? London is a shopping paradise — and even if you have no intention of going wild in department stores, amassing items that you’ll want to bring back to the states really just inevitable.

It’s wise to take a look at your airline’s baggage policy (thinking about both arrival and departure!). Will you just squeeze in under the guidelines? Sail through with room to spare? Or do you need to purchase an extra checked bag?

Those on the group flight should review Virgin Atlantic’s baggage policies here. If you think you’re going to need to purchase extra baggage, doing it in advance online will save you £8. Check out the “Loads of luggage?” link on the bottom of their baggage page.

Happy packing, safe travels, and we’ll see you soon!
